FDA to Consider Authorization of Pfizer-BioNTech Vaccine for Children 5-11 Years Old.

The FDA will meet on October 26 to consider Pfizer’s request for authorization of its COVID-19 vaccine for children age 5-11. The approved dose would likely be 10 micrograms, which is one-third of the dose received by adults and teens.

Inspector General Report Highlights Vulnerabilities for US’s Pharmaceutical Supply

This pandemic has highlighted how reliant the US is on foreign supply chains for our medications. The Inspector General found that 72% of active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturers are based outside in other countries. 13% were located in China. The Department of Defense has identified this problem as a threat to national security.
