Before joining our group in December 2020, Dr. Alejandro Herrera received his Infectious Disease specialty training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering in NYC. Dr. Herrera provided primary care to underserved and LGBTQ patients at APICHA Community Health Center in New York City. One of his focuses was the treatment and prevention of HIV. Alejandro completed his residency training in Internal medicine at Saint Peter’s University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Dr. Herrera served as the Medical Director of the outpatient family clinic at Saint Peter’s University Hospital and continued to care for patients during his 5 years leading the clinic. He was also a board member of the Internal Medicine review committee at Saint Peter’s. Dr. Herrera is board certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease and is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America.

Dr. Herrera was born in Guatemala and so he is a native Spanish speaker, with some basic knowledge of Portuguese as well.  Dr. Herrera enjoys cooking at home, traveling and spending time with his family and dog.
