John Peterson , MD

Dr. Peterson , a senior member of our practice, studied Microbiology and Molecular Biology at Rutgers University and the Waxman institute in Piscataway NJ where he subsequently attended Rutgers Medical School. He pursued training in internal medicine and then a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick subsequently joining our practice in 1990.

He has special interests in epidemiology and public health impairment, and has served as Infection Control Director at Lourdes Hospital and Infectious Disease consultant with the Burlington County Health Department. He has practiced hyperbaric medicine for the treatment of complicated, slow healing wounds and late effects of radiation since 2010 and has served as a Medical Director of the unit.

Dr. Peterson is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, and a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America, the American Society for microbiology and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and in Infectious Diseases and is credentialed by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society. He has been awarded “Top Doc” recognition in Philadelphia Magazine and New Jersey magazine.
