DoD Reports Dangers of United States’ Reliance on Foreign Suppliers of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients
This pandemic has highlighted how reliant the US is on foreign supply chains for our medications. The Inspector General found that 72% of active pharmaceutical ingredient manufacturers are based outside in other countries. 13% were located in China. The Department of Defense has identified this problem as a threat to national security.
