Two newly published studies show that COVID-19 vaccine hesitancy has dropped dramatically in the US from the Fall of 2020 to March 2021. Unwillingness to get vaccinated among 18-39 year olds fell from 46% in October of 2020 to 35.2% in March of 2021. Among Americans 65 and older, just 8.6% reported not being willing to get the COVID-19 vaccine. The greatest declines in vaccine hesitancy were reported by Black and Hispanic Americans, dropping from 63.9% to 43% and from 52.3% to 36.5%, respectively. Despite this significant progress, the studies reveal that more work needs to be done to close demographic gaps in vaccine acceptance. As of March people most likely to say they would not receive a vaccine were individuals who are between 18-39 years of age (44.1%) do not have a college degree (44.1%) and have a household income of $50,000 or below (43.7%).
