The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is taking steps to better understand and address Long-COVID. HHS announced will establish the Office of Long-COVID Research and Practice to understand why some people experience persistent symptoms many weeks or months after their COVID-19 infection.

HHS also issued a guidance making clear that long-COVID is a disability under the Americans with Disability Act, the country’s landmark law protecting people with disabilities from discrimination.
