Doctors, Healthcare Experts Say COVID-19 Deaths Are Being Undercounted in United States
Hospital officials, doctors and other healthcare professionals report that the official number of deaths caused by the novel coronavirus has been kept artificially low. Testing and tracking policies and a shortage of resources have caused COVID-19 deaths to be undercounted in the US. “We definitely think there are deaths that we have not accounted for,” said Jennifer Nuzzo, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security.
