Oxford-AstraZeneca Vaccine May Provide Strong Protection Against UK COVID Variant
Preliminary data showed that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine was only slightly less effective against the UK variant of COVID-19. The study found that the vaccine has 74.6% efficacy against the UK strain, slightly lower than the 84% efficacy against other variants. Researchers, however, lacked the statistical confidence necessary to definitive conclusions at the time of the study. Even though the report has not yet been peer-reviewed and is not conclusive, the findings provide hope that this vaccine offers protection against one of the new dominant strains.
