CDC Reports Eight Hospitalizations, One Death from Salmonella-Tainted Ground Beef
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) reported on Friday that 10 people have become ill from consuming salmonella-tainted ground beef, including one person who died in California. The strain that caused this outbreak, Salmonella Dublin, can lead to bloodstream infections in humans. The agency says that the full extent of the outbreak is not yet be known because of the 2-4 week delay between a person becoming sick and the reporting of the case to health officials. No common source of the contaminated meat has been found as of the posting of this article.
