2019/2020 Flu Season Shaping Up to Be Most Severe in Decades

Health officials are reporting that this flu season could be one of the worst the country has seen in decades. Children have been at especially high risk this year in part because they are more vulnerable to influenza B, the dominant strain this season. Dr. Anthony Fauci, Director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, says that “initial indicators indicate this is not going to be a good season…” but he adds that it is still possible that flu cases will decrease in the near feature, which would prevent overall flu activity from reaching historically high levels.
