FDA, CDC Say COVID-19 Booster Shots Not Necessary at This Time for Fully Vaccinated People
US health officials announced this week that COVID-19 booster shots are currently not necessary for fully vaccinated people. After reviewing the latest data on the vaccines’ effectiveness, they concluded the vaccines available in the US continue to provide strong protection. While effectiveness against delta variant is diminished for all vaccines, the risk of severe illness or death remains low for healthy people. The FDA and CDC continue to monitor the vaccines’ efficacy against all variants.
