Black and Latino Americans Lose More Years of Life from COVID-19 than White Americans

Researchers projected that COVID-19 could shorten Americans’ expectancy by an average of one year. However Black and Latino Americans’ life expectancies decrease by more than 3 times that of white Americans. The virus is expected to take more than 3 years of life, on average, from Latino people. Consequently the disparity in life expectancy between white and Black people could expand from 3.6 years to more than 5 years.
