FDA Approves First Nasal Spray Option to Treat Life Threatening Allergic Reactions

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved the first non-needle alternative to treat anaphylaxis – life threatening allergic reactions. The nasal spray, called Neffy, is approved to deliver the rescue medication epinephrine to people weighing more than 66 pounds. Neffy offers another life-saving option for kids and adults who are afraid of using injections.

COVID-19 Takes Hold at Olympics and Around the World

Noah Lyles ran the 200m race with COVID-19, the American sprinter revealed in an interview shortly after winning the bronze medal. Lyles, who didn’t have his usual burst of energy during the race, collapsed to ground after crossing the finish line and received medical attention prior to leaving the track with the help of a wheelchair. Lyles revealed that he felt :lightheaded” and had “shortness of breath” as well as “chest pain.” The third place finish was a disappointment for Lyles, who had his sights set on beating Usain Bolt’s record. Lyles is one of 40 athletes with confirmed COVID infections at the Olympic games. It’s a reminder that virus is still with us, as COVID is surging right now in the US.
