Ninth Human Case of Avian Flu Confirmed in US

US health officials have confirmed the ninth human case of Avian flu (also known as bird flu). The infection is a result of ongoing series of outbreaks that have decimated poultry and dairy farms since 2022. Tens of millions poultry birds have died in the multi-year outbreak in the US alone. The virus has impacted at least 160 dairy cow herds across 13 states.

Contaminated Deli Meat Kills New Jersey Resident, Hospitalizes Dozens of American Hospitalizes 28 People

A New Jersey resident died from eating deli meat tainted with listeria bacteria. At least 28 other Americans have been hospitalized with infections linked to contaminated meat products sold at delis and grocery stores. The individuals became ill after eating sliced meat bought at delicatessens and deli counters. Listeria can cause severe illness, particularly those at higher risk for infections such as pregnant individuals, older adults (65+ years old), children, and people who are immunocompromised.
