A new report produced by UNICEF, Save The Children and other health organizations details how Pneumonia has become the “forgotten epidemic” and calls on countries to allocate more resources to reducing the impact of the illness. Despite being “preventable, treatable and easily diagnosed”, the disease killed over 800,000 infants and young children in 2018. Pneumonia, which has multiple causes including bacteria, viruses and fungi, is the number one killer of small children in the world.
