Study: Only Half of US Adults Plan to Get Flu Vaccine This Season
A new poll conducted by the National Foundation for Infectious Diseases revealed that just over half of Americans intend to get a flu shot this season. According to experts at the CDC, this figure is far too low to adequately protect the public against the disease. Depending on the year, the vaccine can lower the chance of contracting influenza by 40-60 percent. Studies also show that the flu shot will decrease the length and severity for people who do become ill.
