Measles on the Rise in the US due to Declining Vaccination Rates

New York is experiencing its most severe measles outbreak in 2 decades. 167 residents of the state have been diagnosed with measles since last September. The disease was eradicated in the US but was reintroduced from abroad and allowed to spread due to declining vaccination rates. Health officials warn that if this trend continues, measles could once again become a “truly major epidemic.
