As measles continues to spread across the US, Tennessee is the latest state to report a case of the highly infectious virus. The patients was infected in in early March and is now recovering at their home. Health officials are investigating the case to determine other places and people may have been exposed to measles by the infected individual.
Kansas has now confirmed 10 measles infections in 2025. All of the cases are minors who are unvaccinated or undervaccinated against the virus, the state’s department of health reported earlier today. To date, none of these patients have died or required hospitalization.
Kansas health officials warned that the outbreak is likely not over. “Due to the highly contagious nature of measles, additional cases are likely to occur in the outbreak area in Kansas and in surrounding counties, especially among those that are unvaccinated”, said officials from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
In 2025, the US has reported 407 measles cases across 19 states, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New York.
