The CDC approved updated COVID-19 boosters as cases and hospitalizations surged. Hospitalizations from the virus have increased for 8 straight weeks. The updated vaccine will become available starting next week. The CDC recommends that all people aged 6 months and older receive the updated vaccines. Americans will have access to three different vaccines: mRNA vaccines produced Moderna and Pfizer/BioNTech as well as a protein-based option produced by Novavax. Data provided by all three companies indicate strong protection against the newer variants.
