COVID-19 Response Halting Progress on Malaria, Other Diseases
The coronavirus pandemic is damaging people’s health far beyond those infected with COVID-19. Resources that have been used to treat and control diseases such as AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria have been redirected to the fight against novel coronavirus. Existing deficiencies in some poorer country’s healthcare systems amplifies these ripple effects. The fallout from COVID-19 is not limited to poor healthcare systems, however, as patients with tuberculosis were unable to receive treatment in South Korea’s robust healthcare system.
