Climate Change Will Worsen Health Outcomes on a Global Scale
A new report from The Lancet medical journal has affirmed that climate change will have wide-ranging health impacts in every region of the world. The analysis finds that global warming could be responsible for 250,000 deaths annually by 2030 due to malnutrition, diarrhoea, malaria and heat stress. Another serious consequence for public health detailed in the study is that slight changes in precipitation and temperature can increase transmission of water- and mosquito-borne infectious diseases such as cholera and malaria.

An invasive species known as the longhorned tick is spreading across NJ and other states. The ticks, which are native to East and Central Asia, have not yet been found to carry any harmful pathogens in the US, but are known to pose health dangers to livestock, pets, and humans. The CDC is closely monitoring the non-native tick because of its ability to serve as a vector for a deadly virus that has a fatality rate of 30%.
