Uganda Sees Troubling Rise of Mpox Cases as the Virus Continues to Spread in Africa

Amid the continuing spread of Mpox in the African continent, Uganda is now experiencing a series of new outbreaks. In the last week alone, 2,345 cases, including 34 deaths, were confirmed continent-wide. Africa has confirmed a total of 48,093 cases in 2024, which is already 500% more cases than in all of 2023. The increase in cases in Uganda is another concerning sign that virus is not under control.

More People Fall Ill from E. Coli Infections After Eating McDonald’s Quarter Pounders

Federal health officials have confirmed that 90 have been infected with E. coli bacteria linked to McDonald’s Quarter Pounder sandwiches. This is up from last week’s update of 75 cases. Since the end of last week, 5 more hospitalizations have also been reported, bringing the total number of hospitalized patients to 27. One person has died in the outbreak. Slivered onions have been identified as ingredient responsible for the contamination.
