Avian Flu, also known as bird flu, continues to spread among dairy cow herds and poultry birds across the US. In the latest update from the USDA, 6 additional herds of dairy cows have been infected with the virus. Three more outbreaks have been confirmed on poultry farms housing over 40,000 birds combined. While the immediate threat to human health remains low, public health experts have grown increasingly concerned about the potential of these outbreaks to lead to human pandemic. The longer Avian flu circulates among dairy cows, and other mammals, the more likely the virus will develop the ability to easily spread among humans.
