Ice Cream Products Contaminated with Listeria Sickens 23 People

Listeria outbreak, linked to ice cream products only sold in Florida, has caused 23 infections in people who traveled to the state over the last several weeks. One New Jersey man who traveled to Florida became ill after eating the Big Olaf ice cream product. Symptoms began up to one month after the visitors consumed the ice cream. The company has since recalled its products. Listeria can cause headaches, fever, muscle aches, confusion, neck stiffness, loss of balance and convulsions. Listeria infections in pregnant people can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery and life-threatening infection of child.
