The omicron variant now accounts nearly all COVID-19 cases in the United States. At the start of the New Year, more than 95% percent of confirmed cases. Infections are occurring at record numbers throughout the world, as 9.5 million new infections were recorded last week alone by the WHO. Studies show the average case to be less severe than those caused by the delta variant. However, because omicron is much more widespread than previous strains were, the total number of hospitalizations is very high. Receiving 3 doses of a mRNA vaccine and wearing masks while indoors are two of the best ways you can protect yourself and others against the virus.
