Real-World Data Confirms Vaccines Effectiveness in Older Adults

Newly released real-world data shows that Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines are 94% effective at preventing hospitalizations in people age 65 and over. The study, published by the CDC, supports clinical trial results that showed both vaccines are highly protective two weeks after the second dose. The vaccine was also shown 64% effective at preventing hospitalizations in the elderly who received just one shot. Health officials have stressed the importance of getting people vaccinated at a rapid pace as more dangerous variants take hold in the US.
