Second US COVID-19 Vaccine Enters Human Trials
Johnson & Johnson has begun small-scale human trials on its single-dose COVID-19 vaccine. Animal testing showed immunogenic effects in all of the monkeys in the experimental group. If these early clinical trials meet standards of safety and effectiveness, the potential vaccine will be given to about 30,000 people in phase 3 trials. This is the second US vaccine to enter the human-testing stages. Moderna’s two-dose vaccine is currently undergoing phase 3 clinical trials.
