Measles continues to spread throughout the US, with 1,046 cases now confirmed in 30 states. The country is still on pace for the most measles cases since the year 2000, when the disease was officially declared eliminated in the country. Three patients have died from their infections.
Last week, new cases were reported in Texas, New Mexico, Alaska, North Dakota and Colorado.
This year 96% of people infected are either not vaccinated or are not certain of their vaccination status. he CDC recommends two doses of the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine MMR vaccine to prevent infection and lessen the severity of illness for those who do develop infections.
