Gen X’ers and Older Millenials May Benefit From a Second Measles Shot When Traveling Abroad
The CDC recommends that those who were born in the 1970s or 1980s and are visiting a region experiencing a measles outbreak get tested to see if they’re still immune. Because immunization guidelines did not recommend 2 doses until 1989, some people in this age group may benefit from a second shot. Most outbreaks that occur in the United States in recent years originate abroad.
