FDA May Not Renew Authorization for Children’s COVID Vaccine

The FDA has indicated it may not reauthorize Pfizer’s COVID vaccine for kids age 6 months – 4 years old ahead of the Fall respiratory virus season. The decision could cause shortages in the supply of vaccines for this age group. Pfizer’s COVID shot is the only vaccine approved for all kids in the United States. Moderna’s vaccine is authorized just for kids at least one health condition that makes them more vulnerable to illness. Novavax’s vaccine is approved for children age 12 years and up.

Wegmans Recalls Cheese Over Listeria Concerns

Wegmans has recalled its own brand of medium camembert cheese because of the risk of listeria contamination. Listeria is a harmful bacteria that can cause severe illness in people. The recalled products were sold in New Jersey and 8 other states (plus Washington, DC) between July 1 and August 12. Health officials advise anyone who bought the cheese products to immediately throw them out or return them for a refund.
