17 People Hospitalized by Chicken Alfredo Containing Dangerous Bacteria

Chicken Alfredo meals sold at Walmart and Kroger have caused 17 illnesses and killed 3 people. The meals were contaminated by listeria bacteria, a common cause of foodborne illness. So far, at least 16 of the patients were hospitalized. Thirteen states have reported at least one infection. Listeria can create severe illness, especially in groups who tend to be more vulnerable such as people who are older, pregnant or have weakened immune systems.

More Infections Confirmed as Historically Bad Year for Measles Continues

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed 17 additional measles cases last week, bringing the national total to 1,214 infections this year. 2025 has become a historically bad year for the disease. The US quickly approaches the 1,274 cases we saw in all of 2019, which was the high water marks since measles was declared eliminated from the US in the year 2000. So far in 2025, 35 states have reported measles, including New Jersey, Pennsylvania, New York and Delaware. Texas has seen the largest outbreak with 750 cases.

The virus has hospitalized 146 individuals this year, including 72 kids age 5 or younger. Three people have died. The vast majority (95%) reported cases have been people who were not vaccinated or had unknown vaccination status.
