Hundreds of People Passengers Sickened by Norovirus on Cruise Ship
A norovirus outbreak has sickened 224 passengers and 17 crew members on a luxury cruise in the Caribbean. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed 12 gastrointestinal outbreaks aboard cruise ships in 2025 to date. Another outbreak recently affected passengers on Holland America Line’s Rotterdam, which saw 89 passengers and 4 crew members fall ill with norovirus in early March. Last year, the health agency reported 18 outbreaks such outbreaks.

A new survey shows that more than 1 in 3 Americans cannot afford quality healthcare when they need it. This equates to 91 million Americans who do not have access to affordable, quality medical services or medication. People who have low-incomes have experienced the biggest decline in healthcare access. The gap between the healthcare “haves” and “have nots” continues to widen. For households earning $48,000 or less, the percentage of those who report lack of access to care has soared by 11 percentage points in the last year alone. Among this income group, 64% report that they struggle to afford care. By contrast, households bringing in more than $120,000 reported no difference in accessing care in the same time period.
