Federal Health Agencies Delete Key Information from Government Websites to Comply with Executive Order

To comply with President Trump’s executive order, the CDC has removed webpages with information about HIV, including where people can find testing and resources to help doctors treat HIV. The CDC also removed the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System, which monitors trends in teen pregnancy, tobacco use, unsafe sexual behavior and other teen health issues.

The deletion of this data “creates a dangerous gap in scientific information and data to monitor and respond to disease outbreaks,” the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the HIV Medicine Association said in a joint statement.

COVID-19 Infections Linked to Increased Risk of Heart Failure

According to a new study, COVID-19 infections can lead to clogged arteries, raising the risk of heart a attack. Even a mild COVID illness can increase the odds of suffering heart failure. The researchers found that COVID-19 can contribute to the rapid development of plaque in arteries which send blood to muscles of the heart. The plaque build-up is likely caused by inflammation that occurs in response to a COVID-19 infection. This study builds on previous evidence that links COVID-19 with increased risk of heart failure.
