COVID Vaccine Remains Highly Effective at Preventing Deaths
The 2024-2025 version of COVID remains very effective at preventing deaths, a new study showed. The vaccine reduced the risk of death or invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) from COVID-19 by 79 percent. The vaccine continued to offer some protection from hospitalization, reducing the risk of hospital admission due to COVID by 40 percent.

Infant Dies From Raw Milk Containing Listeria Bacteria
A baby in New Mexico died from a listeria infection from raw (unpasteurized) milk. The infant was likely exposed to the bacteria when their mother drank the milk while pregnant. Pasteurization is a process of rapidly heating raw milk to extremely high temperatures to kill listeria and other pathogens often present in raw milk. Pregnant individuals, young kids, and older adults are especially vulnerable to listeria and other germs from raw milk.
