US Funding Cuts Could Lead to Millions of New AIDS Cases and Deaths, UNAIDS Warns
New HIV cases could surge by could surge by 600 percent if the US withdraws support from the UNAIDS program, the organization warns. UNAIDS Executive Director Winnie Byanyima said that if the US follows through on pulling funding from the world’s biggest AIDS programs, millions of people could die by 2029 and more dangerous forms of HIV could develop. “We will see a surge in this disease,” said Byanyima. “This will cost lives if the American government doesn’t change its mind and maintain its leadership”.

Nevada Dairy Worker Infected With New Strain of Bird Flu
A Nevada dairy worker has become ill with different form of bird flu from the strain that has been infecting dairy cows since 2024. The person experienced mild symptoms, mainly eye redness and irritation, much like the majority of previous human bird flu cases from dairy cows. The patient was not hospitalized. While this newer strain has been detected in people working with poultry, this is the first case linked to a cow. The new strain now appears to be entrenched in cow populations, raising serious doubts about our ability to control the spread of the virus between humans and animals.
