USDA to Begin Testing Milk for Avian Flu in 15 Additional States

The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) will expand its Avian Flu testing of milk to 15 additional state, including New Jersey. This brings the total number of states participating in the National Milk Testing Strategy to 28, representing 65% of the country’s milk production. The USDA rolled out the National Milk Testing Strategy n December 2024 with 6 states initially participating, a long awaited response to the uncontrolled Avian Flu outbreaks on dairy farms.

Study Sheds Light on The Link Between Oral Herpes and Alzheimers

We’ve known for some time that oral herpes may raise your odds for Alzheimer’s. Now, a new study offers clues about how this may happen in the body. In response to the herpes simplex 1 virus, the immune system produces a protein called tau to prevent brain cell death. Over time, the new study suggests, the tau proteins become harmful to the brain instead of protecting it. More research is needed to clarify how the virus causes tau to go from helpful to harmful in certain people.
