The US, which was a founding member of the WHO in 1948, has now stopped all funding and official collaboration with the organization.
Cluster of Fungal Infections Sicken 35 People in Tennessee
The Tennessee health department is investigating an outbreak linked to a fungus living in soil as 35 people fell ill. Health officials are working to confirm one death in connection with the outbreak. The fungus, called histoplasmosis, is more common in the Ohio and Mississippi River valleys. While most patients get better, the infection can be fatal, particularly with people who have compromised immune system. The infection does not spread between people.
