New Measles Infections Confirmed in Utah and the Carolinas

The measles outbreaks in the Utah and South Carolina regions continue to grow. In its weekly update, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed 79 new infections in South Carolina and North Carolina. In Utah, the state health department reported 20 new cases. These outbreaks began in 2025, a year in which the US recorded 2,144 infections – the highest annual total in over 33 years. The US remains at risk of losing its measles elimination status.
