Health officials in New Mexico confirmed 8 more measles cases today. All the cases were in Luna County which reported an outbreak recently at a local prison. The additional cases increase New Mexico’s 2025 total to 94 cases.
In Texas, 3 more cases were confirmed in the latest update from the state health department, increasing the state’s total to 753 infections since the West Texas outbreak started in January. The rate of new infections has slowed since the middle of March. At the peak of the outbreak, 36 counties reported community spread of the virus. Currently just two counties have active outbreaks.
In Kentucky, health authorities announced that the measles outbreak has crossed into a second county. The state’s first confirmed cases occurred in Woodford County, and the virus has now spread to Fayette County. The state now has 6 confirmed infections for 2025.
