Kansas has reported 9 additional measles cases in the ongoing multi-state outbreak that began in West Texas. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment confirmed the new infections today, raising the state’s total to 46 cases in 2025. Forty-two of these individuals are unvaccinated or have unknown vaccination status. Kansas is one of several states with cases connected to the original West Texas outbreak. New Mexico and Oklahoma also have clusters of cases tied to the large Texas outbreak.
Montana and Ohio, two other states with active outbreaks, reported new cases. bringing the state’s total to 7 cases. According to the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services, the both new patients were not vaccinated.
Ohio has confirmed another measles infection in an adult patient. Ohio has experienced some of the highest measles activity this year, reporting 32 infections so far in 2025. Nationwide, at least 884 cases have been confirmed in New Jersey, Pennsylvania and 27 other states.
