The US has already recorded more measles cases in 2025 than in all of 2024. At least 20 states have confirmed cases, including New Jersey and Pennsylvania. The measles outbreak that began in Texas currently accounts for most of the infections. As of Friday, Texas has confirmed 400 cases within its borders. Since the Texas outbreak began in late January, it has spread to at least two other states: Oklahoma (9 cases) New Mexico (44 cases). The 23 cases in Kansas are also likely connected to the Texas-based outbreak. These states, along with Ohio, all have active outbreaks. The virus has also spread across Texas’s Southern border to Mexico, the World Health Organization reported.
