Infant Botulism Outbreak Grows to 23 Infections

The infant botulism outbreak caused by contaminated baby formula has grown to 23 cases. All 23 of the babies have been hospitalized. The babies became sick after eating ByHeart Whole Nutrition Infant Formula.

Infant botulism is caused by a bacteria called Clostridium botulinum, which attacks the child’s large intestine and releases a toxin. The ill babies can suffer from constipation, poor feeding, problems swallowing, and loss of head control. Symptoms start a few weeks after consuming the contaminated product.
