Cream cheese produced by Made Fresh Salads has been recalled because of possible contamination with listeria bacteria. The Long Island based company recalled the products after tests showed the presence of the harmful bacteria. A variety of flavored cream cheese packages were sold in the New York City area.
Listeria is a potentially dangerous bacteria, especially for young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems. Some common symptoms include headache, nausea and fever. In more serious cases, infections can be fatal. Pregnant individuals are at risk for miscarriages or stillbirths.
