COVID Vaccines Still Protect Children Against Severe Disease, CDC Study Finds

A study conducted by the CDC showed that vaccines remain effective at warding off severe illness from COVID-19 in healthy children. Between 8/2024 and 9/2025, COVID shots lowered the risk of COVID-related emergency department and urgent care visits by 76 percent for children age 9 months to 4 years. For kids between 5-17 years old, the vaccines reduced the risk by 56 percent.

This study reaffirms previous CDC research which has consistently concluded that vaccines and booster shots guard against bad outcomes from COVID-19 in children and adults.
