COVID-19 activity is increasing in most states, the latest CDC data shows. Nationally, wastewater levels of the virus increased from “low” to “moderate”. Scientists use wastewater as a leading indicator of COVID’s spread in the community. In the mid-Atlantic region, Delaware is reporting “high” levels of the virus in wastewater detections. Pennsylvania is in the “moderate” category and New Jersey is in the “low” category.
Emergency Room visits have begun to tick up as well. COVID is most prevalent in Western states as well as the South. Some states, such as Louisiana, are experiencing “very high” levels of Emergency Room visits for COVID infections.
Fortunately, severe disease from COVID-19 has consistently dropped in recent years. Overall this is good news for healthy individuals in terms of the risks of getting severely ill.
